## Topic outline

• ### Outcomes and goals

Course title: Human health and environmental risk assessment Name of the study programme: Master academic studies in Chemistry Learning objectives Expanding knowledge related to risk assessment, in order to calculate non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic risks based on environmental monitoring data (tap water, soil around student’s houses, and dust samples from student’s houses) as well determination the bioavailable fraction of trace elements in solid samples, soil and dust. Improvement of student’s skills in usage of statistical methods for monitoring quality in laboratories for environmental testing. Learning outcomes Student’s demonstrates broad knowledge and understanding of health risk assessment.   Students are able to perform calculation of health risk assessment base on the pollutant contents in analyzed samples. Assessment Outcome 1:  Written test with tasks related to calculation of health risk assessment. Outcome 2:  Seminar work related to the selected aspects of risk assessment through literature analysis. Outcome 3: Oral exam and through evaluation of the student's project.
• ### Description of the educational element 1

DESCRIPTION OF THE EDUCATIONAL ELEMENT 1 Educational element title Presenting the results from the environmental samples data bases in environmental science Educational field Chemistry Level of study Master academic studies Title of course in which Educational element is implemented (lecture or lab exercise) Human Health and Environment Risk Assessment (lab exercise) Ttitle of teaching unit Example of correlations , t-test, F tests, G test (Grubbs test) Teacher PhD Dubravka Relić Target group (study program, year of study) Master Study Programme - Environmental Chemistry Educational objectives of educational element Performing the correlation analysis;  t- and F- test will be used to differentiate different forms of Fe oxides in data sets of sediments (the data sets are present in this manual). G-test we can use to detect the presence of outliers of data set if the data are normally distributed (except the outliers).
